PTA announced, unregistered phones will not block till June 3
PTA will not block unregistered phones till June 3. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has extended the time limit for blocking of mobile phones using IMEIs till 3rd June 2020 . all GSMA valid IMEIs seen on mobile networks but currently not registered with PTA.
PTA has given the addition of blocking mobile phones to provide relief and facilitation to the public and ensure social distancing during this crucial time. The block unregistered phones of such mobile phone devices will start on 4th June 2020. It will be communicated through SMS well in some time.
As per law, all the mobile devices being connected to the local networks using local SIMS subject to registration within 60 days from the first use of the device on local mobile networks in Pakistan.
PTA will not block unregistered phones till June 3. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances, non-registered device IMEIs which were to be blocked between 18th March to 3rd June 2020 will now start getting blocked from 4th June 2020.
PTA also launched the Devices Identification Registration & Blocking System (DIRBS). The mobile device user can register devices through the website or by dialing *8484#.
How to use (DIRBS) for block unregistered phones :
The beginning of this new service is yet another evidence of PTA’s sincerity towards its vision of protection of telecom consumers and their basic rights. this system will be applied to automatically Identify sub-standard or fake, and illegally imported mobile phones. The register devices and block noncompliant devices on mobile phone networks, it will identify it very easily. This unique system will restrict illegal imports, facilitate authorized device importers, and mobile device users. It will improve the overall security situation.
