Late Nusrat Fateh Ali khan ‘s 23rd death anniversary observed today: 

Late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is one of the greatest musicians of all time. Today is the 23rd death anniversary of legendary ‘Qawwali’ maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan observed today in Pakistan.

King of qawwali :

Nusrat Fateh Ali khan popularly identify as “Shahenshah-e-Qawwali”, meaning “The King of qawwal.’

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, real name is Pervez Fateh Ali Khan. A Pakistani vocalist, musician, or music director primarily a singer of Qawwali and a form of Sufi Islamic devotional music. Nusrat was born in Faisalabad on October 13, 1948, and was considered one of the trend-setters and pioneers of fusion music in Pakistan.

He died due to lung cancer on August 16, 1997, in Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had sung his first performance at the age of 15. He became the head of the family qawwali party in 1971. He toured widely performing in over 40 countries. In addition to popular Qawali Music, he also had a big impact on all over the world.

However, The tradition of qawwali in the family had passed down through successive generations for almost 600 years. He had his heart set on choosing a much more respectable career path. Before the death of his father, he learned the music from his uncle.

Moreover, the government of Pakistan honored the award of ‘Pride of Performance ‘on the legendary singer in 1987 for his contributions to Pakistani music. He was also The music maestro released around 25 Qawwali albums.
